During the second weekend in January, I stayed at a hotel in Daytona Beach. I drove the Drive Performance WRX (DP WRX) to Florida that weekend. Three weeks later, I returned to the same hotel, but with the family Legacy wagon instead. Three or four people at the hotel asked where the DP WRX was. One fellow whom I had not met on the first trip said that he had seen the WRX in the parking lot, and it made him want to get a WRX STI. He's already had a WRX.
These people remembered the car, so I want to thank all who voted on the design for the wrap. You've helped to make the DP WRX memorable.
On the 48HRS of Tristate drive, I wasn't known by my name, but by the name on the car -- either "Drive Performance" or "Performance" when we talked over the CB radio.
I'm just happy people recognize the car.
SUBARU BOXER Sports Car at Geneva
At last, we break away from rumor to see something official about the Subaru sports car. Take a look at part of the future of Subaru on its global site, which now highlights a teaser image of the SUBARU BOXER Sports Car Architecture that the company will be showing at the 81st Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland the first two weeks in March.
We'll have more official news about the SUBARU BOXER Sports Car Architecture in the next few weeks.
Rally America National Championship -- Round Two
Later this week, I'll be driving the DP WRX south (not far enough!) to join Subaru Rally Team USA as it competes in the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood. The rally takes place in the vicinity of Salem, Missouri. I'm intending to get to as many spectator areas as possible!
At this point, snow doesn't appear as if it'll be a problem for the rally like it was two years ago, when some of the stages weren't run because it was storming so heavily. It'll only be a problem in getting out of Wisconsin! The line between the snow here and the rain there isn't too far south. Right now, I can't wait to get the WRX out of the garage and start down the road!
Watch for the car and for me. I'll have some goodies with me that you might find of interest.
I'll have a report on the event next week.
