Auto show season -- a good time to reflect on past achievements. Subaru did that as part of introducing its all-new 2015 Legacy.
This year is the 25th anniversary of the Legacy, and the 25th year since the first production Legacy rolled off the assembly line at Subaru of Indiana Automotive in Lafayette (more about that later in the year).
Legacy was introduced with a flourish 25 years ago. Prior to launching the 1990 model -- in January 1989 -- Subaru used it to establish a 100,000-kilometer world speed record as well as 13 international records. Read about it in an article published in Drive magazine (Spring 2009) here.
You can find additional materials at the Subaru Legacy 25th anniversary site. It's all about what led up to the introduction of the next-generation flagship Subaru sedan at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6, 2014.
The All-New 2015 Legacy
In Chicago, the Subaru press conference started with a nostalgic look at Legacy models of the past. Then Subaru of America, Inc. President and COO Tom Doll prepared international journalists for the sedan's reveal. It's the best Legacy yet!
The 2015 model is roomier than its predecessors, capable of better mileage, and offering a higher level of comfort. New features include Active Torque Vectoring, the next-generation EyeSight, and new infotainment technology. Read more about it here.
